East Fraser curtails production at Mackenzie plant

East Fraser Fiber Co. Ltd. has announced a curtailment program at its Mackenzie, BC, finger joint plant. Effective July 02, 2007, the #1 Finger Joint Line will close operations, leaving only the #2 line operating at full production levels.

A newly installed Scan Line will continue to operate on a start-up basis and, as the Line is fine-tuned, additional shifts will be added. The finger joint plant in Williams Lake (Parallel Wood Products Ltd.) and the trim block sort plant in Quesnel will continue normal operations.

The curtailment at Mackenzie is a result of current low prices for finger jointed studs and a strengthening Canadian dollar. East Fraser will monitor the economics of its businesses on a
bi-monthly basis and adjust operations as the economics dictate.
